One-Skein Wonders for Babies Blog Tour: Claire - A Baby Hat
A month ago, the One Skein Wonders Baby book came out and I am very excited to share with you one of my patterns that is in the book (pg. 163 to be precise!)
Claire - A Baby Hat came from my love of vintage looking style - the mother-of-pearl, ruffles and lace. I wanted a hat that made baby look sweet and chic but decidedly modern.
The hat is knit from the bottom up. The ruffle is then knit and sewn on. I attached five buttons down the center of the ruffle but you could sew as many as you wanted. I would stick with odd amounts of buttons, though, to keep the aesthetic congruent.
I have designed an grown up version of the pattern featuring 3 different sizes that will be released later this month. I used Hikoo Simplicity for the baby hat sample and am using it again for the adult hat - it's very soft and has really interesting colors. I can't wait to start wearing my hat this fall!
A few years ago I had a pattern (The Bellisfaire Beanie) in the Crochet One Skein Wonders: 101 Projects from Crocheters around the World. When I saw that Storey Publishing had a call for submissions, I was very excited to have a chance to work with them again!
I have another pattern in the book: Elizabeth - A Springtime Cardigan on pg. 9. I will share this in it's own post coming up next week!
If you haven't seen the One Skein Wonders Series, it's definitely worth looking for at Chapters, Amazon, Barnes & Noble etc. I have quite a few books in the series and they are really great - the patterns are unique and inspired with great photography.
